Dr. Zhijun Bai has over twenty years of working experience in biomaterial research as well as medical device development. His research interests include novel biomaterials development, nitinol, bio-interface, corrosion, fretting, electrochemistry, protein adsorption, and biomaterial-body interactions. He authored over 20 publications in journals and books, has also given many conference talks. Dr. Bai has been working with Boston Scientific for the past seven years in multiple divisions. He is currently the principal process engineer in the company's structural heart division, and has been working to develop and manufacture the Lotus Edge trans-catheter aortic heart valve; prior to this, he was working as a principal electrochemist and RD Engineer in the Boston Scientific CRV division. His works have resulted in several commercial products such as the TAVR systems, stents, and pacemaker/defibrillator systems/leads. Dr. Bai received his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from University of Science and Technology Beijing. He received his Post-Doctorial training in Bioengineering from Syracuse University. He is an active member of ASTM, ASM and SMST.
