Implementing Automation: What Are the Political & Economic Considerations?

Rosemary Coates (Executive Director, Reshoring Institute)

Location: 209A

Date: Tuesday, February 5

Time: 11:00am - 11:45am

Track: Chief Robotics Officer (CRO) Summit

Vault Recording: TBD

From Toronto to Tokyo, Mumbai to Moscow, automation is set to transform political systems and economies. To control this new technology, governments are exploring everything, from robot taxes to robot rights and freedoms. At the same time, governments such as China are actively and strategically capitalizing on automation to grow their economic power. This largely unexplored economic dimension of automation could be the biggest factor, defining whether robotics/AI firms succeed in markets around the world and in America. This session will discuss:

• What kind of ideas, policies, and legislation governments are debating to deal with automation
• How government policies, trade wars, and penalty tariffs will affect your global business
• The ethical and social considerations robotics and artificial intelligence firms should be thinking about
