BD's First Foray into 3D Printing for Production Parts

Medtech giant BD, one of the self-described largest users of plastic injection-molded products in the world, has long recognized the potential of additive manufacturing for its applications. Until now, however, it has not used the technology to make a production part. Working with Carbon, a manufacturer of 3D printers, BD used an additive manufacturing technique called Digital Light Synthesis (DLS) to fabricate a hemocytometer adapter for its Rhapsody single-cell genomic analysis system. In this session, you’ll learn how the two companies collaborated to optimize part design, reduce print time, use less material, and accelerate product development without sacrificing part quality.
